Project 52 Week 17: Spring {Linden, Michigan Photographer}

Well, being in Michigan, Spring hasn’t really sprung here yet. So sometimes we need to make our own Spring. The kids received a colorful spinning ornament from their Grandma DD for Easter. Addison decided to put hers outside yesterday. The rain had lifted long enough for us to take a nice long walk and for the kids to play outside for a bit. It ended up raining again after we headed back inside. As the kids were playing, I started to watch this thing spin with the wind. So cheerful and colorful. I decided to run in and get my camera. I figured it was perfect for this week’s theme.

I decided to do a side by side comparison of the results of 2 completely different settings in the camera. Both are properly exposed (I like things a bit on the brighter side) The petals are spinning in both of these images. The one on the left has a very fast shutter speed, so it catches the petals in one position. The one on the right has a very slow shutter speed to catch the blur of it moving. As you can see the background in both images is exactly the same but their appearance is drastically different. Its blurred on the left and in focus on the right. I’ll post my settings under the images so you can see.

Equipment {Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 50mm 1.4)
Settings {Left image: ISO 100 f/1.6 1/2500} {Right image: ISO 100 f/22 1/20}
